I still use their products for specific applications and other brand oils for other performance applications. Approved by BMW Group, GM (General Motors) Opel, and Mercedes. Not a dig on Motul and not an apples to apples comparison, just a real world experience. Next oil change was Valvoline MTS 40 and I was surprised to see a slight 1.5 MPG increase. No notable changes in performance, consumption, or lottery winnings. Everything ran as normal and nothing blew up. increase resistance (due to soot) in order to cover most Direct Injection Diesel engines (unit injector system, fixed oil drain interval, check owner’s manual). Motul is a respected brand in the motorcycle road racing community so I figured I'd give it a try discount). It was their cleanest, most qualified X-Clean offering at the time. I don't remember if it was the "EFE" variant but my engine does not require a MB229.52 oil. In the end if you’re changing oil every 3k any of them work good as long as it’s 5w30 full synthetic. I used Motul 8100 X-Clean several years ago in my 07 OM642 V6. Gonna try to change my oil once more before winter hits, probably gonna go with QuakerState I hear good things about their oil, or Amsoil. ![]()
